Hello my lovelies! I am back with another blog post! This blog post is all about this year- a mini review of how this year has been for me personally but also I am going to be sharing with you what beauty products I have been loving this year and that I will be taking with me into 2018! I will link all the products after I have spoken about them! I don’t know how fast this year has gone! I feel like July was just yesterday! But for now lets get this blog post started!
How do I even begin to describe 2017?! I’d say that this year has been about dreams being achieved, goals been set and achieved, ending a chapter with university and Leicester! But not forgetting starting a new chapter in my life-the working life in a secondary school in London! Making new friends and meeting new people! Learning so much about schools in London, the curriculum, marking and having my own form group and getting to know them individually and as a group! It has also been a family orientated year-I’ve spent so much time this year with family that I don’t see that much and it’s felt so good! Had one close family wedding too and that was amazing too! I think the best thing this year has to be hands down is graduating from university that is a day I will never forget! I am not going to lie and say it’s all been good I have had a few bumps in the road and you know what those testing times have taught me a lot and pushed me to do better! I am going to add here that if it wasn’t for my family and friends I wouldn’t of got through those testing times. It also goes without saying following people that are positive and that share positive vibes and give you those reminders throughout the day it would be impossible to get through those times- so I would like to thank Kaushal and Vex King for sharing their positivity and once again thank you for card and bracelet you had sent me! Now let’s go onto the beauty side of my review!
So starting things off the beauty industry this year has been amazing we have so many launches some of those things I haven’t even managed to get my hands out because it’s sold out or not as easily available here in the UK! I think on the top of my list has to be hands down Rihanna’s Make up Line Fenty Beauty! I managed to get my hands on her highlighter called Trophy Wife and I love it! I love the glow it gives you and the colour, the pigmentation! She has done amazingly well and hopefully I can get my hands on the rest of her stuff!
I really want to get my hands on the Urban Decay Heat Palette, NYX Total Control Drop Foundation, The Ordinary Serum Foundation, Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink Liquid Lipsticks, Kat Von D all her products, Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Beauty Light Wands, Anastaia Beverly Hills Subculture Palette and so many more but I am not going to bore you with my super long list!
Nivea Men Post Shave Balm! So your probably thinking why is there is a men’s product in her beauty faves! I have been using this as a primer on a day to day basis because its cheap and cheerful but also works very well as a primer! I find that I am buying primers 3 or 4 maybe even 5 times a year and if you add it up it works out to be quite pricey! Whereas the post shave balm is a lot cheaper a little bit goes a long way which means I am not having to repurchase it so much!
L’Oreal Paris True Match Foundation and Concealer! Right I don’t know about you but I find it so hard to find the right shade within the high street makeup brands either I have to buy two different shades and mix them together or resort to buying a more expensive makeup brand for the right foundation shade! But the makeup gods listened and L’Oreal Paris brought out a True Match Range of the foundations and concealers! The foundation is available in 23 shades and it gives you a flawless base that isn’t cakey! Or heavy! It’s got buildable coverage and so affordable! The concealer is actually called True Match The One Concealer! Again it’s easy to use, it doesn’t crease, its lightweight with a good coverage! I can’t enough of these two products that make mornings so much more worth it and saves me a lot of time!
Maybelline Instant Anti Age The Eye Rewind Concealer! I use to use this in 2015 and stopped using it once it ran out and I brought it again this year and I can’t begin to tell you how many times I have re purchased it especially when it’s on 3 for 2 at Boots! Its lightweight, doesn’t crease, creamy and use to whack on in the mornings- I just can’t live without it!
Soap and Glory Kick Ass Instant Retouch Powder. I use this for setting my concealer and in flash photography it blurs out your skin it makes it look airbrushed when it isn’t. It does have a yellow undertone to it which brightens up your skin which is what I love about it plus it doesn’t break the bank.
Rimmel Insta Fix & Matte Powder! If your an oily girl like me then you will need some sort powder to take away the oiliness off your skin and I love the Rimmel Insta Fix & Matte this instantly takes away that oil and makes your skin matte. The plus side to this is that its affordable so it doesn’t break the bank.
Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita Palette! So I brought this palette because I heard so many good and raving reviews! I love this palette you can do many many different smokey eyes for parties, weddings, a night out you name it! It came as quad, the colours are to dying for plus they are super pigmented so a little bit goes a long way! Its a copper bronze palette and I wore it to my Christmas Party and I got asked so many questions on my eye makeup! It is pricey at £39 but I know that this palette will be used a lot for nights out, birthdays and weddings!
L’Oreal Paris False Lash Sculpt Mascara. What do I say about this mascara?! This does amazing things to your eyelashes! Makes them long, lifted and so curled! I use to love the Maybelline Lash Sensational but this has taken over! The wand is amazing and I always buy two or three at once so I never run out. I love the wand of it and the fact that its easy to use even when you are half asleep in the morning!
L’Oreal Paris Super Liner Perfect Slim…. I’m not perfect when it comes to doing top s eyeliner but this eyeliner by L’Oreal makes it so easy to do it’s unreal. I think it comes down to the pen and eyeliner tip itself it’s not too thick or too thin its the right size and I would highly recommend this one!
L’Oreal Paris Le Khol by Super Liner….. I think it is really hard to find a good kohl pencil in the high street brands but L’Oreal came out with his one and I love using it when I’m doing a smokey eye as it adds that smokeyness on your lower lash line! It is affordable and lasts long and does not make eye watery.
Freedom London Pro Strobe Palette! If you’re looking for a powder contour palette then look no further this is so pigmented-it has every shade you need, travel friendly and affordable it’s easy to use as well. I have used it for so many weddings and parties and I just love it!
NYX Sweet Cheeks Blush Palette! I cannot get enough of this blush palette, it’s easy to use, has every possible colour shade you need for the year, it’s easy to travel with and so affordable! It’s pigmented and there is not enough words for this palette to describe how amazing it is! At £17 you can’t go wrong with blush palette that you can use all year round and travel with very easily!
Makeup Revolution Ultra Pro Glow Palette! I have found a highlighting palette that I can travel with, that is super pigmented for a high street brand and that gives you that glow! I have no words for how amazing this highlighting palette is I use it way too much and I still haven’t hit pan! What I do love is the colours, the glow it gives and how pigmented it is and it does not break your bank!
Benefit’s Hoola! I love this product its a bronzer and contour powder in one! Its easy to use, comes with a handy brush you can do the quickest nose contour with it and easy to travel with! It is affordable I mean its not super expensive it is £24.50! It is available in a lot of stores and online beauty stockists.
So Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Lips Liquid Lipsticks! So I got my hands on the shade Charlotte Darling! Which is a creamy beige nude and I absolutely been love it! Its matte but it’s not drying on your lips and so comfortable and lightweight which is what I love in a liquid lipstick! It is slightly pricey at £24 but I feel like the formula and how long it wears justifies the price!
NYX Soft Matte Cream! I wear one of these shades at least once in the week! They are creamy, lightweight, pigmented and affordable! They have a big range of colours from inks, nudes, browns, red, purple you name it they have every shade! NYX are killing it and I brought 4 or 5 of my staple liquid lipsticks in this range because I love them that much and at £6 you can’t go wrong!
NYX Liquid Suede! As I was blown away by the Soft Matte Lip Creams I wanted to try the Liquid Suede Liquid Lipsticks! I have two shades and I am stopping myself from buying more currently. Anyways, these are creamy, light weight, matte, easy to apply, its slight shinier compared to the soft matte lip cream but I love them! It is infused with avocado and olive oil! They are worth the price and the two shades I have I love I own Tea&Cookies and Sandstorm. The Sandstorm shade is a true nude and Tea&Cookies is a muted tea rose pink shade.
NYX Matte Lipsticks! I love these they have so many shades to suit everyone’s skin tone and if you have that little bit extra courage to wear the bolder colours then these matte lipsticks you will love! They are cheap but wear very well, extremely pigmented, easy to put on when your on the go and fits into any size bag!
NYX Lip Liners! What do I say about the NYX Lip Liners they are freaking amazing they are so pigmented, non-drying, affordable and easy to apply! I have so many different colours in my makeup draw and in my everyday makeup bag! If you are looking for a lip liner that it affordable and easy to get hold of get to your nearest NYX stand now!
Primark Lipsticks! Yes Primark have a makeup line if you didn’t know this then where have you been?! For £2.50 you can get a matte lipstick with a good colour pay off! They do not have a major selection of colours-hopefully in 2018 they bring out a wider range of colours in the lipsticks and liquid lipsticks!
Barry M Lip Liner! I have never used Barry M as a brand none of there products have really caught my eye! I have been loving the pink lip liner I think its a dupe to Mac’s whirl or soar lipstick. It’s matte, it’s affordable, it’s long lasting but I find it makes my lips drying.
Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner! I love this lip liner! They are cheap, pigmented, long lasting and they double up as a lipstick on those lazy days! I can’t rave enough about them whenever I go into Boots or Superdrugs I buy 3 or 4 just so I have back ups of them. My two favourites are Eastend Snob and Red Diva! Eastend Snob is a my lips but better pink and Red Diva is that classic red that you can’t go wrong with!
Bourjois Rouge Velvet Edition Lipstick! If your looking for a liquid lipstick that is hydrating has a decent colour selection, that is mousse like texture to it, non drying and that lasts a long time the head over to your local Boots or Superdrug now. I love these I have five shades but I have backups because they are that good! I own Cool Brown which a really nice light brown shade, Don’t Pink It which is a beautiful pink shade that you can wear all year around its that pink which is my lips but better shade. Then I own the So H’appy Pink! This is slightly brighter in the pink shades this is more of a summer shade that you wear during the day when your out and about. I own a red which is called Red-volution and this I love wearing on top of my NYX Soft Matte or my Rimmel Lip Liner! I also own Nudeist which is a nudey pink and I wear this under a nude lip liner or when I am wearing a smokey eye as it gives your lips a slight colour that isn’t overpowering!
L’Oreal Color Riche Matte Lipsticks! If you want a matte lipstick that isn’t drying, the colour pigmentation is amazing, has a wide range of colours and that is affordable then L’Oreal Paris has you sorted girl! I love their range and they have every colour you need plus they aren’t like typical lipsticks that run out quickly I can say I have used my lipstick a lot and it hasn’t broken or finished which is what I love about L’Oreal they give you what you want and their products last!
Wish by Chopard! I have worn this quite a lot as I have had quite a few special occasions this year whether that is a wedding, a birthday party, a night out I have been reaching out for this perfume I love the smell of it and it wears for a long time. It is strong scented but it is fresh scent! It is slightly pricey in some stores but I got it off Amazon for around £16!
Makeup Revolution Pro Hygiene Sanitising Solid Brush Cleaner! I was unsure whether to put this in the blog or not but I thought I should! As all of you should be aware is that you should clean your makeup sponges, Beauty Blenders and makeup brushes. Why? Because they get filled with bacteria and then your putting that onto face which can cause acne you should clean your makeup tools after each use that way you know they are clean and no bacteria is going onto your face and one less reason to have a breakout. I have been using this solid cleanser and my god do I love it- its cheap, easy to get a hold of and it cleans my sponges and brushes quickly! Its a dupe for the BeautyBlender Solid Cleanser and I have stocked up on this as I wear makeup to work or when I’m going out with friends I this finishes quickly I mean it does last me a month or so depending if I cleaned my brushes with it or not! I highly recommend this if you are looking for a cheaper alternative.
And that’s all my favourite beauty products for 2017! I can’t believe we are going into 2018! I hope you all have an amazing start to 2018 with family and friends. And I hope that in 2018 you achieve your dreams and the goals you have set! I cannot wait to see what 2018 holds for the makeup and skincare industry but also the fashion industry and the journey I myself am going to embark on. It’s the start of not only a new year but a new chapter, a journey to achieving goals and dreams. I want you to set yourself some goals for the year if you haven’t already and work at them everyday! Let me know in the comments below what posts you would like to read in 2018 I have already started writing down my ideas but I would like to hear yours too!
